Missouri Weekly Direct Slaughter Cattle (week end 08-10-2018)

     Trading from late last Friday through Friday morning remains 
light to inactive as packers and feedlots remain in another weekly 
standoff with most producers passing bids.  Dressed Flat prices on 
Thursday sold at 176.00 with late last Friday grid sales at 180.00.  CME 
cattle futures again started the week pretty bearish and so far the rest 
of the week have been no help.  Thursday saw cattle futures open lower ad 
then everything turned sour fast.  Packers need to maintain inventory, 
but are sure to exercise buying discipline and attempt to shave off some 
money when possible after last week�s higher market at mostly 114.00.  
Early week trade again this week has been limited but at lower prices.  
On Thursday cash trade in the Northern Plains was mostly on a dressed 
prices ranging from 175.00-179.00, trade in the Southern Plains remains 
inactive at this time.  Choice boxed-beef on Thursday closed .33 cent 
higher at 206.06 and Select closed .77 cents lower at 198.09 compared to 
last Friday�s close with Choice at 204.75 and select at 197.09.  The hide 
and offal value from a typical slaughter steer on Thursday was estimated 
at 9.25 per cwt live, down .02 cents when compared to Wednesday�s value.
