Confirmed Sales:

Week to date: 240 Last week: 240 Last Year: 160
( These prices acquired from Missouri producers )

Trading from late last Friday through Friday morning of this week
remains mostly light to inactive with dressed grid sales from late last
Friday at 178.00. Light trade on Wednesday in the Southern Plains was
mostly at 112.00, 2.00 higher than last week. With aggressive gains in
boxed-beef, cash cattle, and underlying support in the CME cattle futures
all continue to give support to the market. Packer margins remain large,
and until the packer has a reason to see margins deteriorate through a
declining beef market the packer will continue it seems to pay steady to
higher money. Packers continue to see good buying and demand from end
users. Boxed-beef values continue to run hard, with Select staring to
see some big gains this week as the choice-select spread remains record
wide for this time of year. Beef demand remains very good with retail
adds still dominate in the circulars. Choice boxed-beef closed Thursday
2.13 higher at 232.18 with Select .85 cents lower at 206.49 with a
Choice-Select spread of 25.69, compared to last Fridays close with
Choice at 225.44 and Select at 199.84. The hide and offal value from a
typical slaughter steer on Thursday was estimated at 8.81 per cwt live
unchanged when compared to Wednesdays value.
